Adoption Timeline

2013

February 25 - Applied to Carolina Adoption Services
March 5 - Contacted by home study agent, sent financial review.
March 10 - Received home study packet.
March 22 - Put home study packet in the mail.
April 12 - First contact with my social worker.
April 22 - Sent in initial contact to hopeful Orphanage.
April 25 - First meeting with my social worker.
May 2 - Second meeting with my social worker. 
May 13 - Third and final meeting with my social worker. Included home visit.
May 20 - Sent in all final paper work for home study.
June 14 - Home study was finalized!
July 1 - Sent off paperwork to orphanage.
July 5 - Sent off USCIS paperwork. 
July 8 - Found out the orphanage has no adoptable orphans.
August 7 - Registration and home study accepted at Adopting Angels.
August 12 - Went for fingerprinting.
August 22 - Adopting Angels received my first stack of paperwork.
August 23 - Got Dossier packet of information.
August 26 - Fingerprints were approved!
October 1 - Dossier received by my agency.
October 5 - Received referral information.
October 31 - Received the medical report for Rebecca.
November 4- Officially accepted my referral for Rebecca. 
November 18 - Advertisements and more paperwork.

2014

January 22 - Paperwork officially submitted to the Ugandan court.
February 19 - Found out my court date!
April 13 - Flew out of GSO. 
April 17 - Court Hearing. 
April 30 - Got Court Order Approval. 
May 8 - Received Passport. 
May 9 - Started process at IOM.
May 14 - Finished process at IOM. Healthy!
May 21 - First filing appointment at the Embassy.
May 28 - Second filing appointment at the Embassy. Exit interview. News of investigation. 
May 29 - Leave Uganda to fly home, without Rebecca. 
June 4 - Receive call from embassy that a birth-mother had been found. Investigation escalated to USCIS.
July 10 - Find out that the Mother wants to keep her children from Private Investigation. 
July 12 - End the adoption. Begin process of keeping the family together.
